My parents immigrated from Thailand in the mid-60s to pursue careers in healthcare. I learned about hard work and sacrifice from both of them. I remember the countless times that they both stressed that we needed to do things better than most and the necessity to sacrifice and serve others because of who we were and where we came from. My parents, my brother (Mach Arom – Class of 1985) and I moved to Edina when I was in 3rd grade, and I have lived most of my life here. As an EHS Class of 1990 graduate, I was very fortunate to have a great experience academically, athletically, and socially. After Edina, I went to St. John’s University to study History, and then Rush University to pursue a Masters in Health Systems Management.
Ali and I have three kids Luke (EHS Class of 2019), Ava (EHS Class of 2021), and Olivia (EHS Class of 2023). We have been incredibly fortunate to have a great experience starting at Creek Valley, to Valley View to EHS. Luke is a Junior at Liberty University and Ava will be attending the University of Oregon.
I’m a lifelong learner who is a problem solver, listener, leader, and a doer. Those who know me, understand that I am dedicated to trying to give back to the community and the kids. I have spent countless hours volunteering, coaching, and organizing, and have always had a hard time saying ‘no’ to any good cause. I was nominated by community members and recognized by the Edina Community Foundation in 2020 with the Connecting with Kids Award, which recognizes adults who have dedicated their time to making a difference.
I consider myself an amateur community organizer who loves bringing people together to work towards a common goal. I have spent years connecting people from around the community to work on volunteer projects, serve the community, support people and families in need.
I have spent over a decade serving Edina and surrounding communities. I have served as President of the Edina High School Athletic Booster Club, Edina Football Association, a Board member on the Edina Education Fund and Creek Valley PTO, and community representative on EHS Student Activities Advisory Council. I have also served as President of the Good Grocer, co-founder of the Spenser Somers Foundation, and I am an active volunteer with several organizations including Loaves & Fishes, Treehouse, Ronald McDonald House, Best Christmas Ever and Sheridan Story.
I have a diverse background that has always involved working in complex industries. Early in my career, I worked in healthcare and went on to receive a Masters in Health Systems Management. Working as a caregiver, in hospitals and health insurance, I understand all the moving parts that are associated with delivering care, and ultimately how the financial model works. Currently, I have been working for Concord in the technology consulting industry. In the consulting industry, our business is about solving problems using technology and business strategy. I have helped Concord grow through a multitude of roles including operations, human resources, legal, and compliance.
